Ingredient

  • 200g Hoa Ngoc Lan No. 11 wheat flour
  • 20g Cornstarch
  • 150g Egg
  • 3g Salt
  • 10g Sugar
  • 30g Water
  • 20-30g Toasted sesame seeds

Tool

  • Non-stick or deep frying pan
  • Mixing bowl
  • Kitchen scale
  • Plastic wrap
  • Rolling pin
  • Knife or dough cutter
  • Chopsticks or kitchen tongs

  • Step 1: Mix the dough

Place the wheat flour, cornstarch, eggs, salt, sugar, water and toasted sesame seeds in a mixing bowl. Mix until a smooth, uniform dough forms.

  • Step 2: Rest the dough

Cover the dough tightly with plastic wrap. Let it rest for at least 1 hour under suitable room-temperature conditions, or refrigerate overnight.

  • Step 3: Roll and cut the dough

Roll the dough into a thin sheet. Cut it into strips approximately 5 cm long and 0.4 cm thick.

  • Step 4: Fry the sesame sticks

Heat cooking oil in a pan. Fry the dough strips in batches over low to medium heat, turning them evenly until golden and crisp. Remove and drain on a wire rack or paper towels.

  • Step 5: Optional finishing

For extra flavor, toss the fried sesame sticks in a pan with sugar and ginger. Adjust the quantities to taste.
